Tears In The Morning Sessions
Late 1969-Early 1970, Bel Air, CA

Today at Brian Wilson’s home studio from 10:00am-1:00pm, the tracking sessions take place for Bruce Johnston’s song, “Tears In The Morning”. This is another song earmarked for the groups ill fated Add Some Music album, but will ultimately appear on the 1970 LP Sunflower.  Early on in 1970 at another recording session at Brian’s home studio,  strings are overdubbed onto “Tears In The Morning” and “Our Sweet Love”.

With the new song just about completed, Bruce decides to add a solo piano tag onto “Tears In The Morning”. On January 26th 1970 he works from Valentine Studio in Studio City, California to record and finally finish the piece. After release on the Sunflower LP in August 1970, “Tears In The Morning” is released as a single in the US and the UK in October, unfortunately failing to chart in either country
